HI Coni! I remember we spoke about narrowing down researching about LetterPress paper and how its manufactured. I know Johnnes Gutenburgh first invented the printing machine as well.
""For my choice of Paper for Advance Layout will be in production of Letterpress Paper. There are several different kinds of Letterpress Paper and Ive happened to narrow down to two on what interest me. It will either be Legion Bamboo or Matallic textured paper. The process of Letterpress paper is developed through A machine that can either engrave or embossed type on the paper, with different kinds of texture.
A small number of copies is to be made, printing can be done directly from the hand- or machine with set blocks of type assembled in forms, but for long press runs, duplicates—stereotypes or electrotyping—are also made to prevent wear and damage of the expensive types. More commonly you would see letterpress paper within Supermarkets as well. Gift Cards and Paper Brown Bags are often the most seen products from letterpress industries.
LetterPress Painting is processed into 3 different stages, but with A purpose of texture’s of type and layout: Typesetting, Imposition and A Printing Press.
People who do typesetting which is the manual way of Letterpress printing, by assembling composition stick that is bonded by A keyboard made out of hot lead. The first ever typesetting machine’s Monotype and Linotype, had the same ink process that was managed by hot lead.
When Letterpress is printed by impositioning. People would use A metal stone that would bind several pages together to be printed on a single sheet. Low-height pieces of wood or metal furniture are added to make up the blank areas of a page. The printer uses a mallet [to strike a wooden block] to adjust the [raised] type [blocks] to ensure the printing surface is flat.
A third example would be A printing press, which dates back to the Roman Empire and first developed by Johann Gutenberg, more commonly and frequently printing press are often use to making newspapers, gift cards or shopping brown bags. Books are processed through bookbindings. Two printing operator (person/staff) would have to manually feed and remove the paper, as inking and press are done automatic.
More than in the past, companies uses photopolymer, copper and magnesium with millied aluminum based are the future step for digital Letterpress. The componants allow to flourish, with commercial use of online printing of fonts and images without the use of hot lead or flat stones with metal letters. The type of papers listed below are manufactured digitally in use of letterpress.
The most common cheap Letterpress papers people use every day are considered:
1. Savory
2. Neehah Blotter
3. Cordenons Plike
4. Colorplan
5. Cranes Lettra
6. Brown Paper Bags and
7. Mohawk Superfine
I havnt really decided on the format, for the brochure I’ll be developing the paper on, but I decided what the name of my company will be. “BirdGate”.
