Here are the other shield-type logos that I was playing around with, the ones I was going to show yesterday and the one I made yesterday. The gray background is just there to show transparency for some of the ideas. Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Research for Flexography:
Frequently used for printing on plastic, foil, acetate film,
brown paper, and other materials used in packaging, flexography-printing uses
flexible printing plates made of rubber or plastic. The inked plates with a
slightly raised image are rotated on a cylinder, which transfers the image to
the substrate. Flexography uses fast-drying inks, is a high-speed print
process, can print on many types of absorbent and non-absorbent materials, and
can print continuous patterns.

Farns_Rough Logos (LetterPress)
HI Class! Here are my logo roghs for my brochure. I'm naming my company "EaglePress" in relation to the American symbol. To me the digital comp on the left seems to be my strongest than on the right. However, I was also wondering if I could do something more with the feathers on the right. There are two Letterpress companies within Boston that has brands named after animals "Goosefish" and "Firefly" which will be part of my competitors.

Nicole Screen Printing Logo Design
Hi all,
My process is screen printing. Since it is such a wide variety of material that you can print on in this process, my audience will be a spectrum of people looking for apparel printing. I work at an apparel printing screen printing company, so I felt like they could be a great reference as well as competitor. Anyone can possibly need apparel printed, so I do have a wide audience, but when you get into this business, the amount of different types of contracts you have, the better. I will be based out of Boston, accepting anywhere from schools, big and small businesses and normal people that need small jobs done for an event or family.
I chose the name "Squeegee Screen Printing" because this is the only process that uses what is called a squeegee to apply the ink to the material, whether it be fabric, plastic, etc. I came up with some basic logo designs that mostly have to do with the look of a squeegee pulling ink across a surface. I also thought of the idea of using a font that had "pain drips" coming off of it because a squeegee and ink go hand in hand for this process. I strayed away from more simple designs because although this process is done by professionals, I wanted to give it a fun look because it can be a pretty fun process to learn.

Cinelli_Printer name and logo ideas
I came up with a lot of interesting names for the Digital printing projectz and I could really use some help figuring out which one would be a better choice. Below are the the names
Visionary Printing
Picture Perfect Printing
Xact Printing
Digital Innovations.co
For my logos I did them based off of the first name option which is why a lot of my thumbnails have the letter 'V' in them.
Hey guys, here's a look at my logo thumbnails for my Paper Production company, Pulp. The name may still be a work in progress, let me know what you think. I wanted to go for a more modern, clean and environmentally clean feel rather than the corporate look many other places seem to have.
I also took some of them into Illustrator to see them in color, and I wanted to know what you guys thought of them. I know some of them heavily feature water, so I wasn't to sure if I should use them because they could be confused with some sort of water company. Paper pulp is first mixed with water, so given the name I thought adding a water element could be good.
Thanks
The Printing Process - Sheet Offset Press
A sheet-fed offset press is made of 4 sections which are the feeder and lay system, the printing units, the delivery system and the control station.
The feeder and lay system - this section checks that papers from the paper stack are loaded one by one into the press.
The printing units - it is where each single color is printing on the paper on one side. It is composed of 5 print units (each unit prints one color (Cyan - Magenta - Yellow - Black (K) ), the 5th unit is the mix of color which is usually done by hand. If both sides have to be printed, there is a cylinder between the first set of units and the second one that realigns and reorganizes the paper in order to print on the other side.
The delivery system - It is a system that put the paper on the delivery board. After this process, a sample of the printing is checked on the control station in order to ensure the quality of the printing.
However before anything can be printed on the sheet offset press, the artwork should be processed on a process plate.
I called this stage , the default stage.
After the default stage, the plate is placed into the press which is wrapped on a cylinder.
Since the papers or sheets are stuck on the top of each other on the delivery section, "anti set-off" powder is sprayed on each sheets before they are being stacked on the delivery system.

Eleni-Rotogravure Printing Logo Design
After research, I learned that rotogravure printing is an expensive, time-consuming process and they mainly print for packaging of high-end products. Thus, my audience will be targeted towards high-end companies or producers of high-quality products. I've learned that large companies tend to use this printing process, such as tobacco industries, for their packaging so I'm gearing it towards these types of big industries. There are not many of these rotogravure printing companies in the U.S. which is another reason it is one of the more expensive processes. For these reasons, I wanted to come up with a simple and contemporary logo that represented this process as well.
Here are some of my rough drawings of my brainstorming for a logo:
Here are some of my rough drawings of my brainstorming for a logo:
After playing around with some of these, I came to like this one as a possible final logo:
Since the process of rotogravure printing is based around a cylinder, I wanted to include this shape into the logo. There is also a point in the process where 2 cylinders rotate against each other to emboss into the paper, which is what I tried to portray here. Since the cylinder is a circular shape, I used typeface "Bauhaus" because it has a circular shape to it as well, though I edited the corners of the letters to be a bit more rounded. I decided to narrow down the name to Roto (rotogravure).
Let me know what you guys think!
Farns_Reserch update on LetterPress
HI Coni! I remember we spoke about narrowing down researching about LetterPress paper and how its manufactured. I know Johnnes Gutenburgh first invented the printing machine as well.
""For my choice of Paper for Advance Layout will be in production of Letterpress Paper. There are several different kinds of Letterpress Paper and Ive happened to narrow down to two on what interest me. It will either be Legion Bamboo or Matallic textured paper. The process of Letterpress paper is developed through A machine that can either engrave or embossed type on the paper, with different kinds of texture.
A small number of copies is to be made, printing can be done directly from the hand- or machine with set blocks of type assembled in forms, but for long press runs, duplicates—stereotypes or electrotyping—are also made to prevent wear and damage of the expensive types. More commonly you would see letterpress paper within Supermarkets as well. Gift Cards and Paper Brown Bags are often the most seen products from letterpress industries.
LetterPress Painting is processed into 3 different stages, but with A purpose of texture’s of type and layout: Typesetting, Imposition and A Printing Press.
People who do typesetting which is the manual way of Letterpress printing, by assembling composition stick that is bonded by A keyboard made out of hot lead. The first ever typesetting machine’s Monotype and Linotype, had the same ink process that was managed by hot lead.
When Letterpress is printed by impositioning. People would use A metal stone that would bind several pages together to be printed on a single sheet. Low-height pieces of wood or metal furniture are added to make up the blank areas of a page. The printer uses a mallet [to strike a wooden block] to adjust the [raised] type [blocks] to ensure the printing surface is flat.
A third example would be A printing press, which dates back to the Roman Empire and first developed by Johann Gutenberg, more commonly and frequently printing press are often use to making newspapers, gift cards or shopping brown bags. Books are processed through bookbindings. Two printing operator (person/staff) would have to manually feed and remove the paper, as inking and press are done automatic.
More than in the past, companies uses photopolymer, copper and magnesium with millied aluminum based are the future step for digital Letterpress. The componants allow to flourish, with commercial use of online printing of fonts and images without the use of hot lead or flat stones with metal letters. The type of papers listed below are manufactured digitally in use of letterpress.
The most common cheap Letterpress papers people use every day are considered:
1. Savory
2. Neehah Blotter
3. Cordenons Plike
4. Colorplan
5. Cranes Lettra
6. Brown Paper Bags and
7. Mohawk Superfine
I havnt really decided on the format, for the brochure I’ll be developing the paper on, but I decided what the name of my company will be. “BirdGate”.
